Practice Manual for Tribunals

The Practice Manual for Tribunals is a resource that has been developed by COAT to assist tribunal members in carrying out their duties. The manual provides information and practical guidance on a range of practice issues that will be relevant to the diverse group of tribunals that may be members of COAT. The manual covers areas such as procedural fairness, conducting hearings and making decisions. You can view the table of contents here.

The Practice Manual for Tribunals was first published in April 2006. It was produced with the generous assistance of the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration and the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General.

 

Accessing the Practice Manual for Tribunals

A copy of the Practice Manual for Tribunals will be provided to the head of each tribunal that is a member of COAT. How the manual may be made available as a resource for members will be determined by each tribunal.

The Practice Manual for Tribunals will also be available electronically to tribunals that are members of COAT. The user name and password required to access the electronic version will be provided to the head of each member tribunal.
