COAT Tribunals Leadership Workshop
Final call for expressions of interest in registering
A good number of people/organisations from Australia and New Zealand have already registered their interest in participating in this forthcoming leadership workshop, full details of which appear below. However some places remain available.
As previously advised the workshop is based on the highly successful Rotorua NZ workshop held in late 2006.
If you would like to participate in the workshop please email your expression of interest as soon as possible to Justice Michael Barker, President, State Administrative Tribunal at Justice.Barker@justice.wa.gov.au .
The details of this workshop, to be held in Melbourne on 26 - 28 November 2008, are set out in the accompanying flyer. Accommodation information is available here.
The workshop programme has been closely developed on the highly successful workshop for tribunal leaders run by COAT in Rotorua, New Zealand at the end of 2006, which in turn was developed by reference to similar courses operated for judicial officers by the UK Judicial Studies Board.
Points to note
- The workshop will be strictly limited to 40 participants from Australia and New Zealand.
- It is designed for tribunal heads and other senior members of tribunals, boards, commissions and other ‘tribunal’ bodies both small and large.
- The cost per person will be approximately $ 400 (not including accommodation and travel expenses that participants will need to book separately). The final cost of registration will be confirmed closer to the time.
- The Rotorua course was a tremendous success and was given top marks by participants in their post workshop evaluations.
What to do next
At this stage persons who wish to register should email an expression of interest in registering to Justice Michael Barker at Justice.Barker@justice.wa.gov.au.
Registration will be on a ‘first-in best-dressed’ basis, although in the event of competition for places COAT will give consideration to the spread of tribunals involved to ensure maximum tribunal representation is achieved.
